About Emily Carroll
Emily is an Associate Professional Counselor (APC010402) and holds a Master's Degree in Counselor Education. Her approach to therapy is all about building self-awareness, healing from the inside out, and creating more space to feel calm, confident, and connected to who you really are. Through compassionate exploration of your inner world, she will help you make sense of your lived experiences and shift away from patterns that no longer serve you. She will work with you to create internal peace and self-acceptance as you work toward your goals. She uses an attachment-based lens, which means that in your early sessions, she’ll seek to understand your upbringing and the key relationships that have shaped your life.
Emily works with both individuals and couples to bring healing and restoration to relationships with self and others. She has advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for both individuals and couples. In her work with couples, she helps couples understand their negative conflict cycle, clearly identifying where they get stuck. She then guides and empowers partners to have authentic, empathetic encounters with each other that lead to lasting change and healing. She also works with families that are experiencing conflict. She is especially passionate about helping mothers and daughters reconnect!
Emily has advanced training in:
Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT)
Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT)

Emily has been a part of the Athens community since 2013. Before becoming a counselor, she spent many years working with young adults in ministry and higher education settings. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, taking their dog to the local dog park, and working on her latest needlepoint project (which she probably won’t finish). She is an active member of her church community and enjoys serving on the hospitality team. Emily practices under the clinical supervision of Erica Dell, LPC, CPCS.
