About Whitney Hamilton
Whitney Hamilton is a Licensed Professional Counselor (#LPC017146) providing in-person counseling in Athens, Georgia, and virtual therapy throughout Georgia. She is also licensed to provide telehealth services to clients in South Carolina and Idaho. Whitney works with teens, young adults and adults and believes feeling heard and understood is at the heart of meaningful therapy. She strives to create a warm, supportive space where clients can show up as themselves.
Whitney understands that every person's story is unique, which is why she tailors therapy to each client's experiences, strengths and goals rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. Her style is collaborative, relational, and grounded in the belief that lasting change happens through genuine connection, self-understanding and practical tools.
She draws from evidence-based approaches including EMDR, CBT, DBT and Strengths-Based Therapy to help clients navigate anxiety, trauma, grief, relationship challenges, addiction and life transitions.
Whitney offers 2-hour, 4-hour and custom EMDR intensives for clients who are looking for a focused approach to their healing journey. Sometimes, the depth of what clients are working through needs more space than a traditional 60-minute session allows. EMDR intensives provide dedicated time to process trauma, address patterns that feel difficult to shift and make meaningful progress without having to spread the work out over several weeks or months.
Whitney earned her Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Georgia Southern University and her Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Georgia. She is formally trained in EMDR and is passionate about helping clients heal, grow and move forward with confidence.
Outside of the therapy room, Whitney enjoys traveling, spending time with her dog, Ryder, cheering on her favorite sports teams and getting lost in a good book. She believes that the same curiosity, connection and balance explored in therapy are important parts of life outside of it as well.
